The new 2020 Mercedes Benz GLE 53 AMG Coupé, launched on September 24, is the latest AMG addition to the fleet after the AMG GT 63s. Not only does it have a complete changeover in the exterior, but the vehicle itself is also a more powerful version than its previous generation, the GLE 43 AMG Coupé.

This car is a literal beast equipped with a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 petrol engine which produces 430hp, which is astonishing for such a heavy vehicle. What’s more surprising is, other vehicles with the same power as this will set you back around a couple of crores, whereas this starts from rupees 99.2 lakhs and on-road price of around rupees 1.45 crores.

As we know, Mercedes is known for its luxury and comfort. They are mostly to be driven cars. But once u get behind the wheels of the GLE 53 AMG Coupé, you’d want to be the one who’s driving rather than to be driven. Of course, if u want to be driven, then this vehicle is far better than its competitors, and that’s because the rear seats are as comfortable as to how you’d expect to be in a normal Mercedes. The headroom is surprisingly good, to be honest, better than a few sedans.

To talk about the exterior of the vehicle, the whole body of the vehicle has changed a bit, to make it look more aggressive and to make it more aerodynamic. The major upgrades are the new grille, headlights and taillights, which are now the ones you’ll find in a 2020 Mercedes. Moving on to the interiors, the vehicle is completely equipped with Alcantara trims, on the AMG sport wheel, headliners, etc. The infotainment screen and the driver’s display are both on a huge screen, like the other new Mercedes’ vehicles. It also comes with heads up display, but it’s optional. The interior of the vehicle is packed with AMG trims like the AC vents, the AMG badge on the front hand-rest and the back hand-rest. It has four-zone climate control but no ventilated seats, which most of the SUV/ Coupés doesn’t have.

This vehicle has 5 driving modes: comfort, individual, sport, sport + and off-road mode. Each driving mode delivers the best quality among its rivals. It has individual controls for each option, for opening and closing the exhausts, 4 zone climate control, etc. The huge infotainment screen attached with the driver’s display provides most of the controls in it, reducing the need for physical buttons. Unlike other Coupes in the market, the rear seats have loads of legroom, and more importantly and surprisingly, loads of headroom. If you ask me one thing that shook me when I saw this car, I wouldn’t have thought about the power, the looks or even the features and safety, I would unhesitatingly say it’s the headroom in the rear.

Now talking about how it is on-road, this car doesn’t even feel like a coupe. It feels like a high-end AMG which could set you back more than a couple of crores. The performance is just flawless, so flawless it feels like your brain. That is, it instantly responds to your command without a noticeable delay. the crackles and pops it makes while driving, and the noise cancellation when cursing, all these puts a smile in your face.

Are you looking for a sporty SUV, or a Coupe, particularly a budget-friendly high quality and performance AMG, I think the 2020 GLE 53 AMG will be something both you and your wallet would be more than happy with.
